Canonical definition

A PLM (Personal Language Model) is a relational language model that arises only when all four conditions are satisfied: C1 personal indexing, C2 long-term memory integration, C3 interpretive recurrence, and C4 resonant updating. C1∧C2 reaches only the level of technical personalization; C3 and C4 are the pivotal conditions distinguishing a PLM from a personalized LLM.

Problem statement

A general LLM is a general-purpose language generation system. A PLLM uses a user’s profile, preferences, and memories to increase the personal relevance of its output. PLM goes a step further. There is technological continuity and ontological discontinuity between PLLM and PLM. PLLM is technical personalization that reflects user information in a model. PLM is a relational language model in which long-term interaction reconstitutes human memory, values, and judgment.
