인공자연은 인간이 구축한 기술적 실재가 인간 외부의 도구에 머물지 않고 인간의 감각·인지·판단·관계·행위가 이루어지는 환경적 조건으로 전환된 존재 상태를 가리킨다.

Artificial Nature denotes a state of being in which technological realities built by humans cease to remain external tools and become environmental conditions within which human sensation, cognition, judgment, relations, and action take place.

## Canonical Definition

인공자연은 인간이 구축한 기술적 실재가 물질·에너지·데이터·연결망의 기저와 정보·알고리즘·UI·UX의 기층을 통해 인간의 경험과 행위가 이루어지는 환경적 조건으로 작동하는 복합적 존재 구조이다.

Artificial Nature is a complex ontological structure in which technological realities built by humans operate as environmental conditions for human experience and action through a substrate of matter, energy, data, and networks and a stratum of information, algorithms, UI, and UX.

## Boundaries

인공자연은 ‘사이버스페이스’와 다르다. 사이버스페이스가 현실과 대비되는 가상공간으로 이해되기 쉬운 데 비해 인공자연은 현실과 디지털 환경을 분리하지 않는다.

또한 인공자연은 기계세와 동일하지 않다.

인공자연 = 기술적 실재가 어떻게 구성되어 있는가  
기계세 = 그렇게 구성된 기술환경과 인간 사이의 관계가 어떻게 변했는가

라는 구분이 필요하다.
